Welcome to the Largest Zoological Experience in Texas!
With 106 acres to explore, thousands of animals to visit, and a huge variety of family activities, the Dallas Zoo is enormously entertaining! Our goal is to make your visit an exciting adventure with opportunities to learn about interesting wildlife, engage in interactive fun, and support worldwide conservation and research to protect and preserve endangered species.
Zoo Facts:
- The Dallas Zoo was founded in 1888, making it the first zoological park in the Southwest.
- Our park covers 106 developed acres! In terms of landmass, it’s the largest zoological park in Texas.
- The giant giraffe sculpture marking the Zoo’s entrance is 67½ feet tall!
- We provide care for a wide variety of animals and are involved in conservation and breeding programs for numerous endangered species.
- The Dallas Zoo is widely recognized for the new Simmons Hippo Outpost, the Giants of the Savanna exhibit, the Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo, the Wilds of Africa where you can experience the Wilds of Africa Adventure Safari, and the Jake L. Hamon Gorilla Conservation Research Center.
DINOS AT THE DALLAS ZOO: APRIL 5 – SEPTEMBER 2
An adventure of epic proportions opens at the Dallas Zoo this spring, and you won’t want to miss it!
ZooNorth transforms into a prehistoric jungle with over two dozen larger-than-life dinosaurs waiting to be discovered. From the ferocious T. rex to the feathered Citipati, explore giants that roamed the earth long ago, and see how Dallas Zoo animals are related to these creatures of the past.
We’ve got something everyone in the family can enjoy, all included in your general admission.
DINOS AT THE DALLAS ZOO ACTIVITIES:
- Discover more than 24 larger-than-life dinosaurs throughout ZooNorth
- Manipulate our robotic dinosaurs that let you see inside at how the animatronics work
- Hunt for fossils in our Dino Dig Zone
- Catch the daily “Train a Dino” demonstration
- Build dino puzzles with giant dinosaur bones
- Compare your skills with “Jump like a Dino” and “Spit like a Dilophosaurus” activities
- Engage throughout the Zoo with an interactive timeline, educational activities, and conservation programs
- Sit for a while and take in the DinoSOAR show Presented by Kimberly-Clark (Wed.-Sun. at various times)
- Catch a dino encounter at the Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo at 2:30 p.m. daily.
- Snap epic selfies at amazing photo ops!
- Join us for a party of prehistoric proportions to celebrate International Dino Day, May 31-June 2, including a special visit on June 1 by dino aficionado Dr. Dino (AKA, Dr. Chris DeLorey) – more info to come!
