Lower East Side Tenements, Tales and Tastes
On the Tenements, Tales, and Tastes tour guests will experience the story of the millions of immigrants who lived on the Lower East Side and taste several delicious dishes of the many groups that have lived there. An expert local guide will lead guests through the narrow, tenement lined, streets of an area known by names like Kleindeutschland, Chinatown, and Loisaida. These neighborhoods currently boast bustling marketplaces, 100-year-old bakeries, churches, markets, and numerous historic sites. Get a glimpse into New York’s immigrant heritage and how they lived their lives, ate and how they are still shaping the New York today.

Tour will meet at the Fountain in City Hall Park. The Fountain is located in the Southern end of the park near the intersection of Broadway and Park Row. The A,C,E,J,R,Z,2,3,4,5,6 subway lines all have stops within 2-3 blocks of the fountain.
